Meadow Brook’s Gourmet Wild Game Dinner & Auction
Dinner menu features Michigan theme
ROCHESTER, MI, August 31, 2016 --- Meadow Brook Hall will stage its 11th annual Gourmet Wild Game Dinner & Auction on September 22th to benefit the preservation of the National Historic Landmark. The presenting sponsor for the 2016 event is Northern Trust.
The benefit begins at 6:00 p.m. with a cocktail and hors d’oeuvre reception with touring, followed by a seated gourmet “wild” or “mild” meal, raffle, silent and live auctions.
The featured Michigan “wild” tastes include:
- Smoked Lake Superior whitefish sausage with tart cherry compote on a locally sourced stone-ground tortilla crisp
- Venison salami, Cotswold cheese & grilled sweet onion brochette
- Curried ring-neck pheasant, dried cranberry & cashew canape on spelt crostini
- Wild boar prosciutto and melon with micro basil
- Aunt Mid’s Michigan spinach salad with toasted Germack almonds, hard-cooked eggs, chevre & roasted beets with Westview Orchards lavender honey mustard vinaigrette
- Cracked pepper & Cabernet-braised farm-raised Michigan whitetail venison pot roast & pan-roasted pike filet with roasted tomato buerre blanc paired with garlic & chive smashed russet potatoes and bundled trim beans
- Strawberry-rhubarb popover with Ray’s vanilla bean ice cream
The auctions will feature a wide array of items including, a pheasant hunt with a one-year membership to Hunters Creek Club; one-of-a-kind Meadow Brook Hall experiences; fine jewelry; guns; golf get-aways and much more.
Meadow Brook Hall will also present its annual Dodge Sportsman Award to Ralph Cagle, co-founder of Sportsmen Against Hunger. This award is given to a person or organization who exemplifies the spirit of the Dodges’ love of the outdoors.
Reservations for Meadow Brook’s 11th annual Gourmet Wild Game Dinner & Auction are required. Tickets are $100 per person. A patron ticket is $125, includes ticket and name recognition in printed program. Tables of ten can be purchased for $750. Call (248) 364-6263 to make a reservation.
About Meadow Brook Hall
Meadow Brook Farms was purchased by John and Matilda Dodge in 1908. The Dodge Brothers, John and Horace, designed their first car (which debuted in 1914) on the farm property, the eventual location of Meadow Brook Hall (1926-1929). The Dodges and John’s son, Danny, were avid hunters, fishermen and sportsmen.

A National historic Landmark, Meadow Brook Hall is the historic home built by one of the automotive aristocracy’s most remarkable women, Matilda Dodge Wilson, widow of auto pioneer John Dodge, and her second husband, Alfred Wilson. Constructed between 1926 and 1929, Meadow Brook Hall represents one of the finest examples of Tudor-revival architecture in America, and is especially renowned for its superb craftsmanship, architectural detailing and grand scale of 88,000 square-feet. It was the center of a country estate that included 1,500 acres, numerous farm buildings, recreational facilities, several residences and formal gardens.
Meadow Brook Hall strives to preserve and interpret its architecture, landscape, and fine and decorative art so that visitors may be entertained, educated and inspired by history.
