Rochester Area Prayer Breakfast

The Rochester Area Prayer Breakfast is an annual, non-denominational event held in recognition of the National Day of Prayer, instituted in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress and then-President Harry S. Truman.  

The Rochester Area Prayer Breakfast will host Dr. Nancy Fishman, founder of Forgotten Harvest at the 34th annual event on Friday, May 8, 2015 at The Royal Park Hotel in Rochester, Michigan.  Forgotten Harvest is the nation's largest fresh food rescue operation dedicated to relieving hunger in metro Detroit and preventing nutritious food waste.  Dr. Fishman will share her very personal encounter with hunger during a difficult time in her life and her commitment to help others in need of food assistance.  

Today, Dr. Fishman is a psychologist and author in private practice in Birmingham, Michigan.  She remains very active with Forgotten Harvest as its most avid ambassador.  Fishman received her doctorate from Wayne State University in 1979 and has trained at Harvard University Law School in Advanced Negotiations.  She specializes in areas related to the family, conducts business and family mediations, serves as a parenting coordinator, conducts custody evaluations and provides expert testimony on family-related issues.  Dr. Fishman and her husband reside in Birmingham, Michigan; together, they have raised three children and also have three grandchildren. 

"We are so happy that Dr. Fishman will host this year's prayer breakfast to honor the 25th year of Forgotten Harvest and also raise awareness of hunger right in our backyard," said Melinda Conway Callahan, 2015 Prayer Breakfast chairperson.  Callahan continued that participants to this year's prayer breakfast will be asked to contribute non-perishable food items for a summer lunch program for children in our community.
